Duty Cycle

The rated Duty cycle refers to the amount of welding that can be done within an amount of time. The Eastwood MP140i has a duty cycle of 30% at 90 Amps. It is easiest to look at your welding time in blocks of 10 Minutes and the Duty Cycle being a percentage of that 10 Minutes. If welding at 90 Amps with a 30% Duty Cycle, within a 10 Minute block of time you can weld for 3 Minutes with 7 Minutes of cooling for the Welder.

If the Duty Cycle is exceeded, the Welder will automatically shut off, however the fan will continue running to cool the components. When a safe temperature has been reached, the Welder will automatically switch the Welder output back on. To increase the duty cycle you can turn down the Voltage Output control.

Perfect in every way and very happy in every way but you cant tig aluminum. My other welder i cant tig aluminum. You have to but the $380.00 spool gun to MIG aluminum. 100% my fault. Everything on their part was perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Paul from Great portability! This is just what I needed to learn more about various types of welding. It's been a long time and my skills are certainly lacking. The options of being able to stick weld and also use flux core when I need to grab it and take it somewhere for a quick repair is so easy due to its light weight. I also picked up a 75/25 bottle of gas for solid wire welding. I haven't tried the Tig yet. Overall this is just a great little machine to have around your garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FranklinMotorsports from Mp140i Great entry level welder. No complaints yet. As expected, it struggles with thick materials so size up to mp200 if you can afford it. It's nice how reinforced the shielding is around the mig torch lead so it won't be ruined if someone steps on it.
